photo: mom, the morning of the flight home. i finally got around to getting a long overdue roll of film developed. mostly mom’s visit. i am thinking that i will be gettting back to regular updates as well as new photos very soon.

we went to oakland to visit reid today in what he told us is called the “dirty thirties”. headed out of the ghetto for (lots of) beer and food and then back to his place for music and picture taking. many many many pictures were taken on film. there were keytars and straw hats and broken violins and more beer. jason took these of us on the roof, because sometimes i share the camera (though i had to say “wait! use this one!”).

For my design final we had to do a bunch of design elements in a portfolio and at the end we had to have our “inspiration” section. I had some color photograhphers, some black and white photographers, egon schiele, some music portraits and this picture. I lovelovelove these magazine layouts. So much in fact the the never done website was put on hold while I completley refigure out presentation. For reals. Also, I totally want to do a day trip to the Cowgirl Creamery and go to Hog Island.

photo: from the archives, brianna at zeitgeist in sf just about two years ago. my design class final has required that we visually show the elements and such that we have learned in class. you can do this however you want, I chose my photographs. it is being put together in a little book thing, but thought it was a good excuse to also post here from the archives. i miss brianna. and zeitgests bloody marys. i should visit both soon.
value: the degree of lightness or darkenss of a surface, sometimes called “tone”
photo: sunday morning. silly busy. and I feel like it is missing something. but something is better than nothing.

photo: from a work auction last summer…the sun peeked out for a few days and all I could think about is how I want to find a bike trail in those green rolling hills off of the 280. Driving by in a car is just taunting.

photo: from the archives, b&w class 2007. I wish more than anything I had more time right now. But for now, archives. I actually used to not like this one very much, but I am thinking that maybe now I do…

photo: Jack just about 2 years ago. Last night I had the honor of reading him his bedtime story, and I think he may be the smartest almost 2 year old I know.

photo: Yesterday about 2:00pm on my patio. the only spot of sun and the only time I had all day, though the light is nicer in the am and pm, as light tends to do. Sometimes I wonder if it was this tree specifically that sold us on the place. The living room windows open up to it. The kitchen bay window opens up to it. The office windows open up to it. I look forward to warmer weather and barbeque’s out there. I want to get one of those comfy lounge chairs so I can lay out there and read.
In other news, my life is stupid busy. Between sick dog, sick me, move, busy work and busy school I feel like my head might explode. But it has not yet and I have managed (mostly) well. And it is almost over. Finish my math take home test (seriously take a look at 1 of 8), write a research paper on the pros and cons of educational programming for children (though I am thinking about changing it to copyright laws in relation to photography), study for my math final (base systems and modular arithmetic!), paint over 25% of a magazine photo in gray scale, and create and design a portfolio with images and descriptions of about 20ish design elements. In a week. While working. And going to school. That being said, the house is still in boxes. But come the end of this month, the next quarter will be much easier. And the weather will be warmer. And there will be friends to visit and photos to shoot and shows to go to and birthdays to have and trips to Tahoe and Big Sur. So I just have to make it. Eleven days and counting.

photo: mira of white magic at fernwood in big sur, november 07. they are playing there again at the end of this month, and I want to finagle a way to go. they are also opening for will oldham in los osos, but that is a tuesday. and too far for a tuesday.

photo: Karinna shoot at Villa Montalvo in Saratoga, summer 08. In many ways my favorites were not hers and I never got around to finalizing for my portfolio, just hers. I like these two. I am working on setting up a new shoot with a new gal once my schedule settles down, hopefully at the end of this month.

photo: from the way back archives, shannon in fresno in 06. that was a nice front yard picnic.
photo: Josh last summer (or was it the summer before?!) off of Skyline Drive. This picture makes me want it to be warm again SOON. And for Lidia & Josh to visit again!
